Norelco 8171XL SmartTouch Cordless Razor
Good product until ... the "replacement head indicator" light goes on
After a year or so the 'blade replacement' light went on. It wouldn't go off until new blades were installed. This means that the battery life dwindles to nil very quickly. Norelco (Phillips) expressed surprise, but replaced the unit. Many months later the same light on this new unit also came on. This time, instead of contacting Phillips, I diassembled the unit, crushed the offending light with a pair of pliers, assembled it back again, and voila! no more battery draining light problems. This is clearly a built-in design flaw intended to force users to buy blades on THEIR schedule and not on ours. I suggest that you think twice before buying this unit.
